  • The NES game Shatterhand is a platform-based single-player shooter that was originally released in Japan as Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain and was based on the superhero series of the same name. The re-released version for the U.S. and Europe changed the main character, plot, and some of the levels.

The plot of Shatterhand is based on the superhero series.

The storyline of Shatterhand takes the player to the year 2030 where a renegade team wants to conquer the world and has created an army of cyborgs to do so. Main character - policeman named Steve Herman - lost both of his hands during one of the skirmishes with cyborgs. As a result, both of his hands were replaced by metallic cyborg arms, and now he can either break down walls, shield himself from enemies' bullets and so on. Herman's task, as you have already understood, is to defeat the renegade team and prevent their plans to take over the world.

The gameplay of Shatterhand is standard for classic shooters, the main attacks the hero performs with his hands, he can jump high and crouch down. You can collect coins and letters as bonuses. When you reach a certain number of collected letters, a robot appears above the player, which accompanies him and helps him attack opponents. The companion robot is susceptible to enemy attacks and can be destroyed. The game has a total of seven levels, at the end of which the player will face a boss battle.
