The NES game Ice Hockey, or "Ice Hockey", is a hockey simulation game developed exclusively for the NES in 1988 in the US and released in Japan the same year.
Based on the technical capabilities of the console at the time, the game was greatly simplified, in terms of the hockey rules themselves, so that the console could handle the graphics. For example, the number of players on the team is reduced: instead of the proper six there are only five, although the movement of spectators in the stands is implemented. In addition, the rules have been simplified, there are no penalty points for violations, but it is possible to remove a player from the field for fighting.
The rules have been simplified.
The Ice Hockey gameplay is standard for games of the genre, the player can choose a team from the presented, as well as provide a mode of two players. Teams differ only in the appearance of the players (color), otherwise they have no different abilities or advantages to each other. The players themselves in the teams have distinctive features, such as: strong and slow, medium strength and medium speed, weak and fast. Before you start the game you can place your teammates according to their traits.
Ice Hockey has received a lot of positive reviews from critics and players at the time of its release, so it is highly recommended to all fans of sports simulation and ice hockey in general.
