The NES game Blades of Steel, or "Blades of Steel", is a platformer in the genre of a sports hockey simulator. The game was originally released in the United States and later in Japan, under the name Konamic Ice Hockey.
The hockey teams in Blades of Steel are all based on real cities in America and Canada, but are themselves fictional. The game was rather popular for its dynamic gameplay and possible showdown between hockey players during the match. If during the game two players bump into each other three times, then a fight breaks out between them. There are three levels of difficulty for one player and a two-player mode. There's also a mini-game that starts during the intermission between matches and is a promotional reference to the developer's other games.
