The NES game Xenophobe or Xenophobe was originally developed for the arcade machine, after a successful release the developers re-released it on various other platforms, including consoles.
The plot of Xenophobe unfolds aboard a spaceship, somewhere in distant space. Choosing one of the characters, the player must kill all the aliens, Xenophobe, who have infiltrated the ship within a certain period of time. If the aliens are not destroyed after the set time, the player dies of infection. At the start the player is immediately given a gun, in the course of the game you can find other weapons. Levels of the game are divided into rooms that can be freely navigated. The aliens come in a wide variety, and they can mutate from one species to another. Some aliens have invulnerability to bullets and you must use certain items to destroy them.
The game supports a 2-player mode that splits the screen in two, but keeps both players in the same world. A similar structure of levels, and the gameplay itself is similar to the game Spy vs. Spy. In the rooms you can find a variety of useful items that serve to replenish health, and for bonus points. As levels are passed, the complexity of the game increases, the number of rooms or floors increases, the number of enemies, etc. In general, Xenophobe can be described as a good two-player horror game, which is more fun to play with two players, as it was originally designed for this purpose.
