The NES game Shinobi or simply Shinobi, is a platform action game that was developed in 1987 by Sega specifically for the arcade machine. The game was later ported to other platforms, including the NES.
The plot of Shinobi is for the player to control a ninja named Joe Musashi, whose task is to save his students, children from the captivity of criminals. A criminal grouping called Zeed has kidnapped all the students, belonging to the clan of ninja, and the main character has to release all the hostages, as well as defeat the boss.
The gameplay of Shinobi is quite handy, the character is able to run, jump high, bend down and attack enemies. To attack, the ninja uses shurikens, which are provided in unlimited quantities, and hand-to-hand combat. By rescuing hostages, which are located at various points in the levels, you can increase the strength of the character. When boosting strength, the hero uses a pistol with bursting bullets instead of shuriken, and a katana instead of melee.
There are five missions in the game, with the first of them consisting of three stages and the rest consisting of four stages. In between missions there are bonus levels in which the camera view becomes first-person. The enemies are gang members armed with a variety of weapons, both edged and firearms.
