The NES game Rush’n Attack, or "Russian Attack", is a platform action game developed in 1985, in Japan, for arcades. The game was later ported to various other platforms, including the NES. The original name of the game, under which it was released in Japan, was Green Beret, but in the United States it was renamed Rush’n Attack, presumably because of the ending of the Cold War with the Soviet Union at the time.
In the story of the game, the game's title was Rush’n Attack.
In the plot of Rush’n Attack, a U.S. Special Forces soldier is sent by the government to a Soviet base with the task of destroying a secret weapon. In the original Green Beret, the mission was different - to rescue all the prisoners of war. But, in both versions of the game, the ending is the same - the fighter fires his bazooka at a ballistic missile, resulting in a nuclear explosion.
The gameplay of Rush’n Attack is classic for this type of genre, the character can run, jump, bend, and attack opponents both melee and with various weapons. Initially the player is armed with a knife, in the course of the passage you can knock various weapons out of enemies and use them. The game has a total of four levels, at the end of each is a battle with the boss. Rush’n Attack supports two-player mode, which is a definite plus.
