Power Blade, a platform action game for Dendy, was originally released in 1990 in Japan, under the title "Power Blazer". It was re-released in 1991 in the US and a year later in Europe. Not only was the main character changed in the re-release, the levels were also redesigned.
The game takes players to 2191, in a colony called New Earth. New Earth's main computer has been disabled by the aliens and the security chief has to deal with the problem and restore the computer's operation. Power Blade is not a linear game and players are free to choose their missions.
The choice of levels is similar to Mega Man, and the main character is comparable to Arnold Schwarzenegger from the movie "Terminator". There are a total of six missions in the game, each with a boss fight at the end.
The main character is armed with a boomerang, and when wearing an energy suit, can shoot energy explosive masses called “power blade”. The energy suit requires finding a bonus item in the form of a helmet.
The player's task in each mission is to find a special agent who will hand over the key and then fight the guard - the boss of the current mission. Power Blade has a save-the-game feature that allows players to save their progress by entering a password, as well as a resume mode for starting from the beginning of the level.
