The NES game Platoon, or Platoon, is a platform action game developed in 1987 for the PC based on the movie of the same name. A year later, the game was ported to various other platforms, including the NES.
While Platoon was originally based on the Vietnam War movie of the same name, its plot has nothing in common with Platoon, but instead resembles the movie's locations and characters. The player controls a special squad fighter, who has to complete a series of tasks, which include missions in different locations. The missions themselves (levels) in the game are divided into four story parts, the gameplay of which is executed in different game formats. The gameplay features of Platoon include its variety, in one part the player controls a fighter with a side view, in another mission the camera view is from the first person, etc. Despite the unusual gameplay Platoon is quite boring, with good graphics and the idea of gameplay missions are very monotonous and primitive. The main character is armed with a machine gun and grenades, he is able to run, jump and bend over. On the way the fighter meets not only various opponents in the form of enemy soldiers, but also traps, such as landmines.
The main character can run, jump, and lean.
In general, we can say that the game Platoon is primitive and boring, the constant wandering back and forth through the mazes and homogeneous tasks quickly tiresome, and the lack of a two-player mode only aggravates the situation.
