The Legend of Kage, or "Legend of Kage", is a platform action game developed in Japan for arcade machines and later re-released for other platforms.
The plot of The Legend of Kage is quite simple and takes place in Japan. The daughter of the Shogun, Princess Kiri, has been kidnapped by an evil samurai, young ninja Kage rushes to save the princess. Kage must reach the samurai's castle through, which is full of enemy ninja fighters. In the NES version, you have to rescue the princess three times to complete the game, with each rescue changing the seasons of the level locations.
The game's gameplay is notable for the character's ability to jump to incredible heights, otherwise it's classic gameplay of a similar genre. Kage is armed with a short sword and an endless supply of shurikens. The enemies are ninjas, who are also armed with swords and shurikens and monks, who can spew fire. There are a total of five levels in the game, with a boss battle at the end of the fifth. After the first two playthroughs Kage and Kiri escape through the forest, where the villain steals the princess again and so on three times, on the third it is necessary to destroy the boss.
