  • The NES game EarthBound, or EarthBound Beginnings, is an RPG platformer developed originally in Japan as Mother, in 1989. The game was developed for the Famicom platform, a year later it was released in the United States.

The plot of EarthBound, originally developed in Japan under the name of Mother, is a role-playing platformer.

The plot of EarthBound unfolds in the U.S. in the 1980s and contains elements of sci-fi. Newlyweds George and Maria were living in the backwoods of the United States and one day they disappeared without a trace. Two years later, George suddenly reappears, just as he disappeared, without telling anyone what happened to him. Eighty years later, his great-grandson, a boy named Ninten goes on a road trip with his comrades Lloyd and Ana. They want to find Ana's suddenly missing mother. The whole story of the adventures of the heroes is quite interesting and has a lot of branches and a lot of events concerning each hero individually.

The game is a great adventure.

The EarthBound gameplay has all the classic RPG components of the time, the developers were apparently inspired by the then popular Dragon Warrior series. Only instead of a fairy tale world was used a modern one, although all the necessary moments were preserved. For example, instead of the usual role-playing spells, the heroes can have the power of telekinesis or telepathy, the fairytale world has been replaced by modern urban landscapes.

All in all, EarthBound is a very interesting game that appeals not only to the story, but also to the remodeled gameplay, and is recommended to all RPG fans.
