The NES game RoadBlasters, or Road Blasters, is a racing shooter game originally developed in 1986 for the arcade. A little later the game was re-released on various other platforms, including the NES.
The essence of the game RoadBlasters is to pass the track while simultaneously destroying other cars. The player's vehicle is equipped with a cannon that can be used to shoot at the enemies on the go, who are the various vehicles of the road. Before the game begins there is an option to choose one of three tracks, which differ only in turns and the rear landscape background.
The gameplay of RoadBlasters is standard for games of this genre, but also has its own characteristics. The car is controlled with a joystick cross, including throttle and brake, the shooting is done with a button. The main distinguishing feature of the gameplay of this game is the presence of weapons in the car, with which you can shoot down opponents - this was a novelty at the time of the release of the game. RoadBlasters' vehicle has a limited amount of fuel, and you must top it up from time to time or you may not make it to the finish line.
In general, the RoadBlasters game generated a lot of positive feedback at the time of release. Most players liked the idea of weaponry in the vehicle, and it has been used by other game developers in their projects.
