  • The NES game Rad Racer, or simply "Rad Racer", is a racing simulation game originally developed in Japan for the NES platform under the name Highway Star. The game was later re-released in Europe and the U.S., where it was called Rad Racer.

The aim of the player is to play the game on the NES platform.

The aim of the player in Rad Racer is to complete sections of road of varying difficulty during the allotted time. As obstacles on the way of the player are the various elements of the road - road signs, trees, as well as the track itself and passing cars. Upon impact with the obstacle car loses speed, which leads to a loss of time.

The gameplay of Rad Racer is classic for games of the genre, the car is controlled by a joystick, and the brake and gas act as buttons. Before the race there is an opportunity to choose one of two cars - a sports car Ferrari or a Formula 1 car. Despite the difference in classes of cars, they are driven absolutely the same, the only difference is their appearance. There are eight levels in total in the game, each of the following levels becomes more difficult by decreasing the time and increasing the number of obstacles on the road.

On the whole, Rad Racer is not a bad racing sim with beautiful graphics that you can drive at your leisure, the only thing that may disappoint is the lack of a two-player mode.
