The NES game Ice Climber, popularly known as "Eskimo" or "Ice Climber", is a logical platformer that was released immediately at the sale of NES consoles in the United States. The game was later re-released on other consoles with minor changes in both graphics and gameplay.
In the story of Ice Climber, two Eskimos, Popo and Nana, are chasing a condor that has stolen their vegetables. In order to pick up the stolen goods it's necessary to climb to the top of the mountain for the condor. The game has a total of thirty-two levels, in each of which is to climb to the top of the floors. The floors prevent the player to move up different obstacles in the form of falling icicles and slippery floor. In addition to weather-related obstacles, various enemies in the form of seals, birds and bears also obstruct the level levels.
The gameplay of Ice Climber resembles logical platformers like Lode Runner or Nuts & Milk, whose principle is similar and levels are built on floors. The player's task is to climb up through the floors, cutting his way up with an ice axe and avoiding collisions with enemies and obstacles. SEALs repair openings in the floors cut by the player, and birds can push the character back to the lower levels. The screen rises after the player, and you can die if you fall to a lower floor.
Ice Climber is a fairly fun game, and an added bonus is its two-player mode, and you can play at the same time. In its time, the game was popular in large part because it was included in the set of games bought from the console set.
