The objective of Balloon Fight is to defeat all of your opponents in an aerial battle. Each opponent and the player can move around the area of the screen on the balloon, and you have to pop the balloon by tapping your feet to shoot your opponent down. Each player has a number of spare balloons which they can use if they fall.
Balloon Fight gameplay is designed for two players, and you can play against the opposing team at once. In addition to the enemies on the levels, there are other obstacles such as clouds which periodically shoot out lightning and can snag a player flying by. Initially the player has two inflated balloons, if the opponent bursts them both, he loses his life. Opponents fly one balloon, but have a spare or several that can inflate when they fall. If an opponent falls on some platform, he will inflate a spare balloon and go into battle again. If you knock your opponent into the water, he dies instantly and is eaten by a fish.
