The NES game Gauntlet, or "The Glove", is an arcade shooter game developed in 1985 for the arcade machine, and later re-released on other platforms. What makes this game special is that at the time of its release it was one of the first multiplayer arcade games.
The essence of Gauntlet is to explore dungeons in which you must collect various treasures and artifacts. All locations (dungeons) are filled with hordes of different monsters, ghosts, demons, which are generated by magical portals. Destroying the portal monsters stop appearing. Each level is divided into many rooms, locked by doors, to open the doors you need to find the keys scattered around the location.
You have to find the keys.
The Gauntlet's gameplay is quite interesting, first of all it's possible to play two players at once, and secondly you can choose from four characters who differ both in appearance and in their weapons. The camera in the game is located from above, due to which both players can clearly see the location. With each level the game gets more complicated by increasing the number of enemies and the number of rooms to explore. There are no bosses in the game, but sometimes there is an enemy in the form of death, which is not easy to destroy.
All in all, Gauntlet is a game that can drag on for hours, especially playing together. Not for nothing did it get its sequel, called Gauntlet 2.
