Adventure Island

Also called, Hudson’s Adventure Island, the Adventure Island game is a platform arcade game, released in 1986 in Japan. It was released two years later in the US but it only reached Europe in 1992. By that time, the game’s second part, Hudson's Adventure Island 2, was already published.

The plot of Adventure Island and the whole series is about Mister Higgins going on an adventure to rescue his beloved who was kidnapped. The player’s task is to get to the end of the level by passing various obstacles and enemies within a specific time and move on to the next level. Along the way players can collect bonuses in the form of fruit, which restore the time spent.

Each level of the game is divided into four locations - forest, sea, cave and night forest, but sometimes there is a winter location. Players can use a stone axe, which can be found in the egg of the dinosaur, as well as fireballs, to defeat the enemies.

Enemies are made up of are various inhabitants of the fauna: snails, spiders, birds, etc. Additionally, there are other obstacles in the form of falling stalactites and stone boulders. At the end of each level, players must defeat the boss.
